GREENSBORO, N.C. –
Wake Forest women's tennis junior Kimmy Guerin was named to the 2016 All-ACC Academic Women's Tennis Team, the league office announced Thursday afternoon.

The honor is the second of the Weston, Conn. native's career. She was also an All-ACC Academic recipient last year as a sophomore.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.

A psychology major, Guerin finished the year with a 21-18 singles record that included a 15-11 mark at the No. 1 position in dual-match play and eight wins against ranked opponents. In doubles, she went 19-12, including 14-12 in the spring and four ranked triumphs. She finished the year ranked 67th in singles and No. 44 in doubles alongside freshman Anna Ulyashchenko.

Guerin, a Second Team All-ACC selection, became the first Demon Deacon since 2011 to compete in NCAA Singles Championships in 2016. She climbed to a career-best No. 44 in the national singles rankings during the season and was a catalyst behind the Deacs' first 9-0 start in program history. She won her first nine singles matches, including eight victories at the No. 1 spot.

After finishing unranked in 2015 and entering 2016 at No. 71, the Deacons ended the season at No. 29 for their highest final ranking in nine years. The Deacs' 19 wins were their most since 2002 and their seventh-place ACC finish was their best since 2007. The team also appeared in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2009.
