PISCATAWAY, N.J. –
Wake Forest women's tennis rising senior Kimmy Guerin won the 2016 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Summer Circuit Northeast Regional singles tournament, held at the Rutgers University Tennis Courts in Piscataway, N.J. and the Buccleuch Park in New Brunswick, N.J., last weekend.

The top-seeded Guerin cruised through the 63-player tournament, winning all four of her matches without dropping a set.

After receiving a first-round bye, Guerin downed Muskaan Ranjan of India, 6-1, 6-1, and moved on to the quarterfinals with a 6-0, 6-1 defeat of Fordham's Whitney Weisberg. The Weston, Conn. native moved on to the semifinal round by dispatching eighth-seeded Caitlin Bernard of Indiana, 6-1, 6-1, and reached the final with a 6-1, 6-3 win over fifth-seeded Christina Sisti of Tulane.

In the championship match, Guerin dropped just one game against third-seeded Alex Sabe of Purdue, winning the title in a 6-0, 6-1 decision.

Guerin's ITA Summer Circuit championship run came off the heels of a junior season in which she ended the year ranked No. 67 nationally in singles and No. 44 in doubles. She garnered her second All-ACC honor in as many years and earned a berth in the NCAA Singles Championships, becoming the first Demon Deacon since 2011 to accomplish the feat.
