WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest University is set to host an ITA Summer Circuit event this week. The tournament will be held at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex and will run from Friday through Monday.
The Demon Deacons will host the tournament, which is expected to feature more than 150 players, for the second year in a row. Deacon women's tennis head coach Jeff Wyshner is the event's director.
The ITA Summer Circuit, which began in 1993, provides college tennis players, along with junior players and alumni, the opportunity to compete in organized events during the summer months. All of the 2016 ITA Summer Circuit events are held on college campuses.
In total, the 2016 ITA Summer Circuit features 51 tournaments spread across 24 different states. This year's summer circuit began in June and wraps up this week with nine qualifying events throughout the country.
Players that advance out of the qualifying tournaments advance to Bloomington, Ind. to take part in the ITA Summer Nationals, held Aug. 13-16 at Indiana University.
