Wake Forest Returns Home
• Wake Forest returns home to face Middle Tennessee State on Wednesday.
• The Deacs will then host the 2016 Black and Gold Invitational at the Summit School. Tournament teams include High Point University, UNC-Charlotte and Wofford.
Series Notes
• Wake Forest and Middle Tennessee State will meet for the second time in team histories. The two have not met since Nov. 24, 2001 when Wake Forest took the win, 3-0, in the Alabama Turkey Tournament in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Last Time Out
• Wake Forest went 1-2 in the SpringHill Suites Invitational in Statesboro, Georgia.
• The Deacs played a five-set thriller against No. 24 South Carolina to open the tournament, though ultimately dropping the match, 3-2. Senior Hanna Lee had a stellar match, recording a career-high 20 kills alongside four service aces.
• The squad then lost to tournament-hosts Georgia Southern, 4-1. Caroline Rassenfoss and Kylie Long each recorded 10 kills to lead the Deacs.
• The Demon Deacons closed out the tournament with a quick 3-0 sweep of Buffalo. Katie Moore recorded a .474 attack percentage while Kylie Long hit .500 with her 12 kills on three errors. Hanna Long made the match her own again with nine kills on one error for a .571 attack percentage.
Scouting the Blue Raiders
• Middle Tennessee State is coming off of an 0-3 performance in the Blue Raider Bash, where they faced Illinois State, Seton Hall and Tennessee Tech.
• Sophomore Bailey Mason leads the squad with 69 kills this season and a 2.38 kills/set average. Last season, Mason attended Truman State where she averaged 2.07 k/s in 23 matches.
• MT has a tough front line, thanks to Von Covington, Dela Gallagher and Dora Peonia. The trio has a combined 51 blocks, whereas Wake Forest totals 44 blocks.
Next Up
• Wake Forest will host the Black and Gold Invitational Sept. 16-17 at the Summit School. High Point, UNC-Charlotte and Wofford will be in attendance.
• The Deacs then hit the road until Oct. 7. The Demon Deacons will take on Duke, Virgina, Louisville and Notre Dame in a packed conference-stretch before returning home for a six- game homestand.
