Wake Forest Hosts the Black & Gold Invitational
• Wake Forest is hosting its second, and final, tournament of the season, the Black and Gold Invitational. All matches will be held at the Summit School.
• Here is the full tournament schedule:
Friday, Sept. 16
5:30 p.m. High Point vs. Charlotte
8 p.m. Wake Forest vs. Wofford
Saturday, Sept. 17
10:30 a.m. Charlotte vs. Wofford
1 p.m. Wake Forest vs. High Point
5 p.m. Wofford vs. High Point
7:30 p.m. Wake Forest vs. Charlotte
Series Notes
• The Deacs and Panthers have battled it out 41 times in program history with Wake Forest leading the series, 23-18. Wake won their last meeting, 3-1, on Sept. 12, 2015 at High Point.
• Wake Forest and Charlotte have met 20 times throughout the years, with Wake leading the series, 12-8. The Deacs won the last matchup, 3-0, on Sept. 21, 2010 at Charlotte.
• Wake Forest and Wofford have only met once before on Sept. 6, 2010, where the Demon Deacons took the W, 3-0.
Last Time Out
• The Deacs swept Middle Tennessee State on Sept. 14 to record their second consecutive sweep.
•Caroline Rassenfoss recorded 16 kills and a .636 attack percentage while Caitlyn Della recorded five kills and no errors.
Next Up
• After the tournament, the Deacs hit the road to begin conference play. The squad will play Duke on Sept. 21, Virginia on Sept. 23, Louisville on Sept. 30 and Notre Dame on Oct. 2.
• The Deacs return home to face Virginia Tech on Friday, Oct. 7.
