WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Formerly a football student-athlete and a women's basketball scout team player, Ryan Bauder has been named the Director of Basketball Operations for Wake Forest women's basketball heading into the 2016-17 season.
"I am really excited to bring a Wake Forest alum back in Ryan," said Wake Forest head coach Jen Hoover. "He has worked closely with our program for the past two years and is extremely passionate about helping us build a championship program. His tireless work ethic, character and willingness to do whatever is necessary have made him a valuable asset to our program over the years and his experience as a Demon Deacon student-athlete will continue to be invaluable to each of our student-athletes as we move forward."
Bauder is a 2015 graduate of Wake Forest and played football for the Demon Deacons from 2011-14 before joining the women's basketball scout team in 2014. During his time with the program, Bauder assisted in opponent scouting and recorded offensive statistics during games. He was also a member of the coaching staff that helped run Jen Hoover Basketball Camps. After graduation, Bauder spent time with Wake Forest's Student-Athlete Services department, where he assisted academic counselors with tutoring, special events, student orientation and more while continuing to work with the women's basketball program.
A member of the ACC Honor Roll from 2012 to 2014, Bauder was also a Dean's List honoree during his time at Wake Forest. He graduated with degrees in both History and Politics and International Affairs while minoring in Religion.
Originally from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Bauder currently resides in Winston-Salem.
"It's a privilege to be a part of the women's basketball program here at Wake Forest and I am very grateful for the opportunity from Coach Hoover and the rest of the staff," Bauder said. "I was blessed to be a part of Wake Forest's athletic department as a student-athlete and I am excited to continue the journey at this amazing University."
Wake Forest will open the 2016-17 season on Friday, Nov. 11, at home against Navy. The game marks the third-straight season the Deacs open at home and it starts a stretch in which Wake Forest plays four of its first five at home inside LJVM Coliseum. The lone road game during the stretch comes Nov. 13 at LSU in Baton Rouge, La.
