Wake Forest Travels to Statesboro, Georgia
Wake Forest will travel to Statesboro, Georgia to compete in the SpringHill Suites Invitational hosted by Georgia Southern. The Deacs will play South Carolina and Georgia Southern at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m., respectively, on Friday and then face Buffalo at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Series Notes
Wake Forest will play South Carolina for the sixth time in program history on Friday. The Deacs lead the all-time series, 3-2. The squads haven't faced since Sept. 3, 2004, when the Deacs took the match, 3-1.
The Deacs hold a 2-1 advantage over Georgia Southern. In their last meeting on Sept. 11, 2009, the Eagles won in five sets, 3-2.
The Demon Deacons will be facing Buffalo for the first time in program history.
Last Time Out
Wake Forest went 1-2 in the Demon Deacon Classic. The Deacs are now 1-2 at home as well.
Junior Kylie Long was unanimously named a member of the 2016 Demon Deacon Classic All-Tournament team after recording a career high 24 kills in the match against Loyola Chicago. Senior Hanna Long was also named a member of the All-Tournament Team.
Despite losing to Loyola Chicago in five sets, a total of 11 career-highs were set or tied in the match, including seven new career-highs for returning players. Senior Hanna Lee set new career-highs in kills (11) and digs (5), junior Kylie Long set a career-high in kills (24) and sophomore Katie Moore also recorded a new personal record in kills (13). Sophomore Hailey Brooke McFadden recorded a career-high 16 digs in the match against Davidson while junior Caroline Wolf moved to 6th on the Wake Forest All-Time digs list with 1,143.
ACC Leaders
The Deacs lead the ACC with a 13.59 kill/set average. Kylie Long leads the ACC in individual kills with a 4.76 kill/set average while teammate Caroline Rassenfoss is 5th with 3.65 kills/set.
Next Up
The Deacs return home and face Middle Tennessee State on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at the LJVM Coliseum.
Wake Forest will host the Black and Gold Invitational Sept. 16-17 at the Summit School. High Point, UNC-Charlotte and Wofford will be in attendance.
