WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest picked up its third-straight conference win with a 71-55 victory over Boston College Thursday night at the LJVM Coliseum.
Alex Sharp scored a career-high 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting and was one rebound shy of a double-double with nine.
Amber Campbell led the Demon Deacons (13-7, 4-3) with 19 points while Milan Quinn and Elisa Penna totaled 14 points each for the Deacs to round out double figure scorers.
The Demon Deacons jumped out to an early 7-0 start thanks to a triple from Penna and two quick layups from Campbell. While the Eagles (8-13, 1-7) made a comeback to tie the game 12-all, the Deacs came right back with an 8-2 run to make the score 20-14.
The Deacs would not look back and lead for the remainder of the game. In all, the Demon Deacons led for 39 minutes and 24 seconds Thursday night. Wake Forest continued to dominate and entered halftime up 41-26. The 41 points were the most scored in the first half this season and tied for the most in any half.
Entering the second half up 15, the Deacs went on an early 8-5 run to bring their lead to 20 with just over five minutes remaining in the third quarter. The Eagles managed to pull within 10 early in the fourth quarter but the Deacs countered with a 7-0 run, forcing Boston College to burn a time out. The Deacs finished the game comfortably with their second-largest margin of victory this season, 71-55.
Three Demon Deacons hauled in seven rebounds, including Quinn, Campbell and Tyra Whitehead, who matched a career-high in rebounds Thursday.
The Demon Deacons hit the road to take on in-state rival Duke Sunday, Jan. 29. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
