Deacs Host ITA Kickoff Weekend
• Wake Forest, the No. 2-ranked team in the country, welcomes Auburn, Georgia State and Nebraska to Winston Salem Friday and Saturday, Jan. 27-28, for the ITA Kickoff Weekend.
• The Deacs will face Nebraska on Friday at 5 p.m. while Georgia State and Auburn will meet at 2. The winners of Friday's matches will then play at 5 on Saturday while the losers will square off at 2 p.m.
• The winner of Saturday's match will receive a bid to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships, held Feb. 17-20.
Last Time Out
• Wake Forest improved to 2-0 on the season as the Demon Deacons swept 12th-ranked Oklahoma, 7-0, on Saturday, Jan. 21.
• The Deacs avenged last year's defeat to the Sooners in the NCAA Tournament in resounding fashion with a blanking of Oklahoma.
• Wake Forest secured the doubles point before taking the first four singles matches in straight sets to build a 5-0 lead. The Demon Deacons were pushed to a third set in two matches, but closed out tiebreakers on courts 1 and 6 to complete the sweep.
Mansouri Named ACC Player Of The Week
• Junior Skander Mansouri was named the ACC Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday, Jan. 26.
• Mansouri, the 4th-ranked player in the country, collected his first win over a ranked opponent this spring, as he defeated Oklahoma's 18th-ranked Spencer Papa in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, in the Deac's 7-0 sweep of the Sooners.
• Wake Forest has claimed the first two Player of the Week honors this spring, as Petros Chrysochos took home the first weekly honor of the spring last week.
Deacs In The Rankings
• Wake Forest opened the spring season ranked No. 2 in the team rankings, the best ranking in program history.
• Petros Chrysochos enters the spring season ranked No. 1 in the country. He is joined by Skander Mansouri (4th), Christian Seraphim (21st) and Alan Gadjiev (122nd).
• On the doubles side, Mansouri and Christian Seraphim are ranked No. 1 in the country.
Next Time Out
• Wake Forest travels to No. 14 Oklahoma State on Sunday, Feb. 12. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
