Deacs End Run at ITA All-American Championships

TULSA, Okla. – Petros Chrysochos and Skander Mansouri ended their runs at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with Chrysochos falling in the quarterfinals and Mansouri dropping his Round of 16 match.
By virtue of advancing to the quarterfinals of the tournament, Chrysochos earns an automatic bid into the ITA National Fall Championships, held Nov. 1-5 in California.
Looking to repeat at the ITA All-American Championships, Chrysochos faced Florida State's Lucas Poullain in the Round of 16 to open play Saturday. Chrysochos, ranked third and seeded third, made quick work of the 50th-seeded Poullain to advance into the quarterfinals where he met No. 9-16 seed and 24th-ranked Martin Redlicki of UCLA. The junior's run would come to an end with a 6-4, 7-5 defeat to Redlicki.
Mansouri, the No. 7 seed and 10th-ranked player nationally, faced Gustav Hansson of Ole Miss. Hansson, a No. 9-16 seed in the field and ranked 14th in the country, dropped the first set to Mansouri, 6-2. The senior from Tunis, Tunisia, nearly punched his ticket to the quarterfinals before being pushed to a tiebreaker in the second set. Mansouri would drop the tiebreaker, 7-6 (5), before dropping the final set, 6-4, to Hansson.
The Demon Deacons are back in action Oct. 13-17 for the ITA Carolina Regional Championships in Durham.
