WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The comeback effort by the Wake Forest women's basketball team fell short Sunday (Nov. 12), as the Demon Deacons dropped a 67-57 decision to Seton Hall inside the LJVM Coliseum.

Amber Campbell scored a team-high 17 points while Tyra Whitehead recorded her first-career double-double with 12 points and a career-best 12 rebounds. Alex Sharp fell a rebound shy of also notching a double-double, finishing with 13 points and nine rebounds.

Both teams shot over 50 percent from the field in the opening quarter as Wake Forest (1-1) held slim one-point leads at three separate times in the opening frame. After the Pirates (2-0) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, Campbell's layup pushed the Deacs in front, 4-3.

Midway through the first quarter, Sharp got a layup to fall to once again put the Demon Deacons in front, 12-11. The teams traded baskets, with Whiteheads jumper pushing the Deacs in front, 14-13.

Seton Hall built a lead as big as nine in the second quarter before heading into the break with a 41-36 lead. Wake Forest responded out of the break with the first five points of the third quarter to even the game up at 41-all. The Deacs were unable to regain the lead in the second half, as the Pirates closed out the 10-point victory.

The Demon Deacons now begin a stretch of five consecutive games away from home, opening the roadtrip on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at Richmond at 7 p.m.
