
Deacs Wrap Up Indoor Regular Season at UCS Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.--The Wake Forest men's and women's track and field programs finished competition with eight top-five finishes at the UCS Invitational held at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem.
Charlie Ionata, Tesia Kempski and Jessica Molina all set personal bests at the competition.
Ionata set a new personal best and a school recordwith a throw of 21.11m (69' 3.25") in the men's Weight Throw, good for second. He replaced his previous best of 19.96m set last season at UCS Invitational and replaces the school record of 20.09m set in 1996. . Also in the Weight Throw, Kyle Johnson finished fourth with a throw of 17.89m (58' 8.50"). In the men's Shot Put, Max Adams took third with a throw of 14.78m (48' 6").
Kempski dominated the Pole Vault and cleared the 3.80m (12' 5.50") bar, her personal best and the best of the competition by nearly a foot. Madison Bragg also placed fifth in the event after clearing the 3.20m (10' 6") bar.
Molina finished third in the women's Shot Put, her best finish of the season, with a personal best throw of 14.13m (46' 4.25"). Also in the field, Alva Hicks finished second in the weight throw with a throw of 18.96m (62' 2.50"). Andrea Vahoua threw her best weight throw of the season at 17.16m (56' 3.75"), good for fourth, while Molina took seventh with a 15.30m (50' 2.50") throw.
Sarah Fahmy finished 18th in a field for 45 in the women's 1 Mile Run. Her time of 5:13.81 is her best time this season and is just over a second off from her personal best.
The Deacs head to South Bend, Ind. next for the 2017 ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships held Feb. 23-25 at the Loftus Sports Center on the Notre Dame campus.
