Gergely, Masterman Shine During First Day of Bob Davidson Team Challenge

Sophomore Rosalind Gergely recorded a personal-best throw of 51.59 meters to claim first place in the women’s javelin, while graduate student Nick Masterman secured a second-place finish in the men’s javelin with a career-best distance of 63.22 meters.
HIGH POINT, N.C. – Highlighted by stellar performances by graduate student Nick Masterman and sophomore Rosalind Gergely, the Wake Forest Track and Field program opened competition in their first outdoor meet of the season at the Bob Davidson Team Challenge on Friday afternoon.
Gergely started the day off for the Deacs by claiming first place in the women's javelin with a personal-best distance of 51.59 meters. With the result, the Pottsville, Pa., native now sits third all-time in the women's javelin in program history.
Making his Demon Deacon debut, Masterman earned a second-place finish in the men's javelin registering a career-best throw of 63.22 meters. With the result, the Villanova, Pa., native has now jumped into fifth all-time in Wake Forest history for the event.
Elsewhere, junior Seren Rodgers also logged a personal-best in the women's javelin, throwing a distance of 34.54 meters. Meanwhile, senior Casey Sullivan recorded a personal-best throw of 48.23 meters to place ninth in the women's hammer throw.
