Wake Forest Concludes First Day at Raleigh Relays

Four Demon Deacons secured ACC-standard marks in the men’s 10,000 meters, highlighted by junior Charlie Sprott clocking a time of 28:42.04.
RALEIGH, N.C. – Highlighted by four Demon Deacons securing ACC-standard marks in the men's 10,000 meters, the Wake Forest Track and Field program concluded the first day of competition at the Raleigh Relays on Thursday night at the Paul Derr Track & Field Facility.
Junior Charlie Sprott led the way for the Deacs in the 10,000 meters, clocking a time of 28:42.04 to finish ninth. Senior Joe O'Brien finished just behind Sprott, clocking a time of 28:54.48 to take 11th place.
Additionally, senior Daniel Winter clocked a time of 29:32.94, while fellow senior Gavin Ehlers recorded a personal-best time of 29:39.14.
Earlier in the day, sophomore Rosalind Gergely claimed second place in the women's javelin, logging a personal-best distance of 52.21 meters on her final attempt. Meanwhile, graduate student Nick Masterman secured a 12th-place finish in the men's javelin after recording a throw of 58.40 meters.
Elsewhere, junior Wes Shipsey registered a personal-best time of 3:43.26 to secure a top-25 finish in the men's 1500 meters, while fellow junior Hunter Jones added a top-25 finish in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase, clocking 8:51.48.
