Rocky Hansen Advances to NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

The Hendersonville, N.C., native clocked a time of 13:28.19 to claim a second-place finish in his semifinal heat of the men’s 5000 meters.
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Led by junior Rocky Hansen securing his spot in the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, the Wake Forest track and field team wrapped up the third day of competition at the NCAA East Region First Round on Friday night at the UK Track and Field Complex.
Hansen clinched a berth in the final of the men's 5000 meters after recording a second-place finish in his heat of the semifinals, clocking a time of 13:28.19.
With the result, the Hendersonville, N.C., native will be making his third consecutive appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Hansen claimed All-American honors in both of his previous championship appearances, including earning First Team All-American honors after claiming fifth place in the men's 5000 meters last season.
Elsewhere, senior Bryce Gilmore concluded his career with the Demon Deacons as he recorded a time of 3:43.83 to finish seventh in his quarterfinal heat of the men's 1500 meters.
