Asch Named ACC Player of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Senior Samantha Asch has been named the ACC Player of the Week for the first time this season, the league office announced Tuesday (Feb. 21). The honor comes after a 4-3 victory over Clemson and a 6-1 victory over App State on Saturday, Feb. 18.
Opening up ACC play for the Deacs, Asch and doubles partner Joanna Zalewski earned a 7-6 (5) victory playing on the No. 2 court against Clemson. Asch played at the fifth singles position for the Deacs as she went on to defeat her opponent 6-2, 6-0.
Playing No. 2 doubles against App State, the pair of Asch and Zalewski helped clinch the doubles point with a 6-1 win. Asch moved up to the No. 3 singles spot for the match against App State where she cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 victory.
Asch went a perfect 4-0 over the pair of matches and only dropped three games throughout singles play. The Demon Deacons improved to 10-2 on the season and remain undefeated, 6-0, at home.
The Deacs are back in action on March 3 as they travel to Tallahassee, Fla. to take on the Seminoles.
