
Wake Forest Wraps Up Day Two of ACC Championships

 SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Three Demon Deacons qualified for finals in their respective events while two more earned Second Team All-ACC honors in the second day of competition at the ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Kathryn Lazarchick qualified for the finals in the women's 1 Mile Run while Robert Heppenstall and Simon Holden earned their spot in the men's 800m Run finals.
Alexandria Florent and Amy Collins earned Second Team All-ACC honors with their performances in the High Jump.
Craig Corti kicked off the day for the Demon Deacons in the unseeded men's 5,000m Run. With eight laps to go, Corti lost his shoe but finished strong in fourth place with a time of 14:42.77. After the seeded 5,000m Run, Corti's time was good for 16th overall, nine places better than his finish last season at the conference championships.
Lazarchick qualified for the women's 1 Mile Run finals after finishing second in her heat. Her time of 4:47.68 was good for sixth overall in the prelims. The finals will be held Saturday at 12:35 p.m.
Heppenstall automatically qualified for the 800m Run finals by winning his heat with a time of 1:48.52. Holden finished second in his heat with a time of 1:49.78, fast enough to qualify for a finals spot. The duo will compete Saturday at 1:50 p.m.
In the High Jump, Florent finished in fifth place after clearing the 1.73m (5' 8") bar. Collins tied for sixth place with a cleared height of 1.65m (5' 5"). Both student-athletes earned Second Team All-ACC honors for their performances.
Hunter Roberts finished 17th in the women's 60m Hurdles with a personal best time of 8.50, which replaced a previous best of 8.54 set at the Camel City Invitational earlier this season.
Tesia Kempski finished 19th in the Pole Vault after clearing the 3.66m (12' 0") bar.
After the second day of competition, the women's team is tied with Clemson for seventh place with 14 points while the men are in 13th place with 3 points.
The final day of competition is Saturday, Feb. 25. Events begin at 11 a.m. with the women's Shot Put.
