Deacs Set For WNIT
• Wake Forest makes its second consecutive postseason appearance on Thursday, March 16, as the Demon Deacons play host to Bethune-Cookman in the first round of the 2017 WNIT. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside the LJVM Coliseum.
Deacs In The Tournament
• 2017 marks the seventh all-time appearance in the postseason for Wake Forest and its sixth WNIT bid.
• Wake Forest is 4-5 all-time in the WNIT and has an all-time postseason record of 5-6 which includes a 1-1 mark in NCAA Tournament play.
• This is just the second time in program history that the Demon Deacons have appeared in the postseason in back-to-back seasons. Wake Forest earned a bid to the 2009 and 2010 WNIT, falling in the first round on both occasions.
• In 2016 the Deacs earned a first round victory over Charlotte, 72-69, before falling to eventual runner-up Florida Gulf Coast in the second round.
• Thursday's game marks the fifth home game in the program's postseason history and first home contest since 2010.
Last Time Out
• The Demon Deacons fell to Virginia in the second round of the ACC Tournament, 44-61.
• Wake Forest earned the No. 9 seed and a first round bye in the tournament, marking the best seed for the program since the 2012 season (No. 7 seed).
Scouting The Lady Wildcats
• Bethune-Cookman, out of the MEAC, earned the league's auto bid into the WNIT as the Lady Wildcats won the league's regular season with a 15-1 league record (21-10 overall). The team took a 12-game winning streak to the MEAC championship game where the Lady ‘Cats eventually fell to No. 3 seed Hampton.
• Kailyn Williams repeated as the MEAC Defensive Player of the Year while head coach Vanessa Blair-Lewis was named the league's Coach of the Year for the second straight season.
• Kendra Cooper leads the team offensively, averaging 10.4 points per game.
