The Matchup
• No. 20 Wake Forest returns home for the next four games, beginning with a three-game series against ACC rivals Notre Dame from Friday-Sunday.
Last Time Out
• Wake Forest earned two double-digit victrories this week, taking down No. 26 Coastal Carolina on Tuesday, 19-9, before traveling to Elon for a 13-1 win in seven innings.
• On Tuesday, the Deacs used four home runs, including a two-homer, seven-RBI effort from Stuart Fairchild, to take down the defending national champion Chanticleers. Wednesday, Colin Peluse, John McCarren, Rhyse Dee and Morgan McSweeney combined to three-hit Elon on the road.
Wake Forest Storylines
• The Demon Deacons are a consensus top-25 team for the first time in more than a decade. Wake Forest is ranked by Baseball America (20), Collegiate Baseball (22), USA Today Coaches (22), D1Baseball (24), NCBWA (24) and Perfect Game (25).
• Wake Forest picked up its 25th victory of the year in its 35th game. That's the fastest the Deacons have reached 25 wins since doing so in 31 games in 2002, also the last time hosting an NCAA Regional.
• Five Deacons already have at least seven homers: Johnny Aiello (12), Gavin Sheets (11), Stuart Fairchild (nine), Bruce Steel (eight) and Keegan Maronpot (seven). The last time the Deacs had 5+ players with at least seven homers was 2002.
Opponent And Series History
• Wake Forest leads the all-time series over Notre Dame, 10-5. The Demon Deacons and Fighting Irish first met in the 1949 NCAA Tournament, with the Deacs beating the Irish twice en route to a runner-up finish at the College World Series. Notre Dame claimed the series last year, though, two games to one.
• The Fighting Irish have a 15-17 overall record and are 7-8 in ACC action. Notre Dame rebounded from a 1-8 start and has won five straight games, including eight of the last 10 and a sweep of Georgia Tech last weekend.
Looking Ahead
• Wake Forest remains in Winston-Salem for a Tuesday game against Charlotte before heading to South Carolina for a three-game set against top-five foe Clemson next weekend.
