WINTSON-SALEM, N.C. -- The individual draws for the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships have been announced, with first-round opponents set for the three Demon Deacons who will play in the singles draw and one tandem set for doubles play.
Petros Chrysochos, who was originally announced as the No. 5 seed in the tournament, will be the No. 3 seed in the tournament due to individuals withdrawing from competition. The sophomore will open singles play against Tyler Lue, an alternate, from Yale.
The Ivy League Player of the Year, Lu climbed as high as No. 63 in the country and features a 26-6 record in singles play and a victory over California's Florian Lakat, who was ranked 12th nationally at the time.
Skander Mansouri enters the draw as a No. 9-16 seed and will face Jose Salazar of Arkansas in the first round. Salazar led the team with a 30-8 record on the year, including an 19-5 mark in the spring and an 8-3 record against SEC opponents.
Borna Gojo opens his first-ever appearance in the NCAA Singles Championship against the No. 4 seed, Arthur Rinderknech of Texas A&M. Rinderknech is 27-8 on the season, 18-5 in dual matches and enters the tournament on a six-match winning streak.
By virtue of being one of the 16 seeded players in the singles draw, Chrysochos and Mansouri have both guaranteed ITA All-American status. For Chrysochos and Mansouri, it'll be their second-straight All-American honor. Gojo can play his way to being named an All-American with a pair of victories in the tournament.
In the doubles field, Mansouri and Christian Seraphim earned the No. 4 seed and will face Hunter Johnson and Yates Johnson of Southern Methodist in the first round. The twin brothers for the Mustangs posted a 7-2 record in the spring and finished the season No. 24 in the country after rising as high as No. 14 nationally.
Mansouri and Seraphim faced the other ranked team in their quadrant, Julian Cash and Arjun Kadhe of Oklahoma State, earlier this year, and cruised past the duo, 6-2, in Stillwater.
As a top-eight seeded team, Mansouri and Seraphim have locked up doubles All-American status for the second consecutive season. Mansouri becomes the first player in program history to garner All-American status in both singles and doubles in two consecutive season, and his four total All-American honors are also the most in program history.
