WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The Wake Forest men's and women's track and field programs are set to return to the JDL Fast Track to compete in the Wake Forest Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 20.
The competition will be the second at the JDL Fast Track for the Deacons this season, as the team opened 2017-18 there at the UNCG Early Bird Duals. The Deacs will also compete in the Camel City Invitational Feb. 2-3, the JDL Team Challenge on Feb. 8 and the UCS Challenge Feb. 16-17 at the Fast Track.
Thirty student-athletes, including 15 on the women's side and 15 on the men's, are entered to compete in 25 events on Saturday.
Events begin at 9:30 a.m. with the women's 60m hurdles and the men's and women's shot put.
Admission for Saturday's meet will be $7 for adults and $5 for students 12 and older. Children under 12 are free.
Last time out, the Deacons won five event titles at the Navy Invitational. Jordan Banks improved in all five pentathlon events on her way to the gold while Cate Allen won the 3000m, Alva Hicks claimed her second weight throw title in as many events, Robert Heppenstall earned the 1000m title and Mitchell Dyer took the mile.
Up next, the Demon Deacons head to Clemson, South Carolina for the Bob Pollock Invitational. It will be the first of two trips to Clemson for the Deacs this indoor season, as the ACC Indoor Championships will be held there Feb. 22-24.
