The Matchup
• The No. 2-ranked Demon Deacons take on Boston College on Friday night at 8 p.m., and the game will air live on RSN, which includes Fox Sports South.
• The team will wear pink uniforms for the annual Genna Wiley Memorial Match as the Deacs continue the fight against breast cancer — Genna passed away three days after the 2007 national championship and was the wife of former Deacon athletic trainer Steve Wiley.
Last Time Out
• Wake Forest bounced back from its first defeat with a 4-2 victory over High Point, which entered the game with a 10-1 record.
• Omir Fernandez matched his career-high with a five-point output, tallying two goals and an assist.
• Machop Chol added a goal — the game-winner, and an assist. Aristotle Zarris scored as well for the Deacs.
Quick Kicks
• Wake Forest was ranked No. 5 in the nation in the United Soccer Coaches preseason poll and moved up to No. 1 in the first weekly poll. The Deacs have been ranked in the top five in 28 consecutive polls dating back to the middle of the 2016 season - 22 more weeks than any other program (Indiana/North Carolina - 6).
• The Deacs are once again one of the top teams in the country. Wake Forest has the second-highest winning percentage in the nation (Saint Mary's), and leads the country with 38 goals.
• Wake Forest has a lot of new faces after sending seven into the MLS ranks following the 2017 season. Still, the Deacs brought in the No. 2 recruiting class in the country, headlined by top-50 recruits Isaiah Parente, Kyle Holcomb, Koby Carr and Aristotle Zarris.
• Since the start of the Bobby Muuss era in 2015, Wake Forest has a 67-9-7 overall record. That win total is the most of any Division I program.
Opponent & Series History
• Wake Forest leads the all-time series against Boston College, 8-5-2. The Deacs have won five straight meetings since 2013, outscoring the Eagles by a 16-1 margin over that span.
• Last year, Wake Forest clinched the ACC Atlantic Division with a 4-0 win over Boston College, fueled by a two-goal effort from Omir Fernandez.
• Boston College enters with a 4-3-3 record, including back-to-back wins over No. 17 NC State and Harvard.
• Simon Enstrom has accounted for more than half of the Eagles' offense, scoring eight of the team's 14 goals.
Up Next
• The Demon Deacons return to the road for back-to-back games, starting with a trip to South Carolina on Tuesday.
