Deacs Head To ITA National Men's Team Indoor Championship
The No. 1 Wake Forest men's tennis team heads to Seattle, Washington for the 2018 ITA National Men's Team Indoor Championship, hosted by the University of Washington.
The Demon Deacons earned the No. 1 seed in the tournament and will take on the tournament hosts in the opening round. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m. (PT).
With a win, the Deacs would face the winner of Oklahoma State vs. Southern Cal in the second round.
Last Time Out
The Demon Deacons swept No. 9 Oklahoma State on Sunday in the team's first road match of the season and first match against a ranked opponent.
Wake Forest won the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and 3 doubles and then picked up singles victories at the No. 2, 4 and 6 positions to secure the victory.
Bar Botzer improved to a team-leading 16-4 on the year with a victory at No. 4.
Deacs In The Rankings
The Demon Deacons, after being ranked No. 1 to begin a season for the first time in program history, remain the top team in the weekly ITA rankings.
Individually, six singles players and two doubles teams are ranked in the latest ITA rankings.
The singles rankings are highlighted by Petros Chrysochos (No. 6) and Skander Mansouri (No. 22), while the pairing teams up to form the No. 1 doubles team in the country.
Scouting the Field
The 16-team field features 13 of the top 15 teams in the latest ITA rankings, including the top 12 teams in the country.
A total of 53 players who appear in the ITA's singles rankings will be in Seattle for the event, including six of the top-10 players in the country.
Next Time Out
The Demon Deacons are off for nearly a month, as the team returns to action on Friday, March 16 to face Virginia Tech in the Deacs' ACC opener. First serve in Blacksburg is set for 2 p.m.
