PALM CITY, Fla. – The Wake Forest men's golf team continued play Monday with the second round of the Valspar Collegiate at The Floridian. The Demon Deacons shot 13-over on Monday to finish the day in 13th place at 12-over.
"We had a sloppy day of play," said associate head coach Dan Walters. "It is disappointing, but it is still only one-third of a tournament. We are excited to get back in the saddle tomorrow for a much better ride. Today's round was not the golf we expect, but it is one that we will learn from and make us better in the long run."
Marco Steyn had the low round of the day for the Deacs, shooting an even par 71 to finish the day at 5-over. Lee Detmer posted a 2-over 73 to finish the round at 2-over through 36 holes. Parker Gillam, who held the 18-hole lead at 5-under, shot a 6-over 77 to finish the round at 1-over. Eric Bae shot a 5-over 76 to finish the day at 5-over to round out the scoring four for Wake Forest.
The Valspar Collegiate concludes Tuesday at The Floridian.
