WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's soccer program announced Monday (March 19) the addition of graduate transfer Mariah Lee for the 2018 season. Lee comes to Wake Forest from Stanford, the 2017 NCAA National Champions.
"We are thrilled to have Mariah join our program for her fifth year of competition," said Wake Forest head coach Tony da Luz. "She is an extremely dangerous attacking player with explosive speed. Having just won a National Championship at Stanford, Mariah brings championship experience, strong mentality, hunger and maturity to our team."
Lee, a native of Covington, Washington, will graduate from Stanford with a degree in history. The 5-4 forward started in 16 of 59 games played in three seasons for the Cardinal, recording five goals and six assists in her undergraduate career. In 2017, she played in 11 games, netting four goals before a season-ending injury in October.
Lee was named Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention in 2015 and 2017 and earned Dean's Award for Academic Excellence honors three times in her undergraduate career. She was a committee member for Stanford's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and a student-athlete peer advisor from 2016-17.
She attended Kentwood High School in Washington, where she won state titles in both track & field and soccer. Lee also led her club team, Washington Premier FC, to an Elite Clubs National League and state title.
Lee will be enrolling in the Master's in Management program through the Wake Forest School of Business.
