CARY, N.C. – The Wake Forest men's golf team set a school record with a 19-under 269 during the final round of the Stitch Intercollegiate at MacGregor Downs. The Demon Deacons finished the tournament in second place at 30-under.

The 19-under round sets a new Wake Forest single-round record, eclipsing the 18-under first round at the 2016 Schenkel Invitational. The total of 269 ties a school record set during the 2008 VCU Shootout and the 2015 Nike Golf Collegiate Invitational, both on par 71 courses.

Wake Forest finished the tournament at 30-under, six strokes behind champion Duke (36-under). NC State finished third at 20-under.

"A wonderful day for the Demon Deacons," said head coach Jerry Haas. "Everybody played solid all week and today's round shows what we're capable of. A Wake Forest record is a day I will always remember. McBride, Young, Bae, Detmer and Gillam shooting a record 269."

Cameron Young and Eric Bae tied for individual runner-up honors, each finishing the tournament at 10-under. Bae shot a final round 64, his career-best round and tied for the sixth-best round in program history. His runner-up finish was the best result of his collegiate career. Young shot a final round 66 to complete his fourth top-five finish of the season.

Paul McBride also posted a top-10 finish, his second of the season. He shot a final round 70 to finish T-8th at 8-under for the tournament. Lee Detmer posted his best round of the tournament with a final round 69 to end the tournament at 1-over. Parker Gillam completed the lineup with a 2-over 74 to finish at 3-over. His 3-over total for the tournament was also matched by Brandon Gillis and Marco Steyn, who were playing as individuals.

The Demon Deacons return to action April 20-22 with the ACC Championship at Old North State Club at Uwharrie Point.
