UWHARRIE POINT, N.C. – The Wake Forest men's golf team continued play Saturday at the 2018 ACC Championship with the second round at Old North State Club. The Demon Deacons shot a 5-under round of 283 and are in seventh place at 12-under after 36 holes.

Georgia Tech continues to lead the tournament, holding a six-stroke lead at 23-under. Just five strokes separate second place and the Demon Deacons in seventh with 18 holes to play. Clemson and Notre Dame are tied for second at 17-under. Duke and Virginia are tied for fourth place at 14-under and North Carolina is sixth at 13-under.

"We are making plenty of birdies, but we just need to eliminate the mistakes," said head coach Jerry Haas. "If we can play good clean golf tomorrow, we can shoot a low number and see what happens."

Cameron Young and Lee Detmer led the Demon Deacons on Saturday, each posting a 3-under round of 69. Young is at 2-under for the tournament, while Detmer is at 3-over.

Paul McBride continues to lead Wake Forest on the individual leaderboard. He shot an even par 72 on Saturday to remain at 6-under for the tournament, tied for eighth place.

Parker Gillam rounded out the scoring four for the Deacons with a second-round 73, finishing the day at 3-under for the tournament. Eric Bae posted his second straight round of 74 to sit at 4-over for the tournament.

The ACC Championship concludes Sunday at the Old North State Club. Coverage on ACC Network Extra will be available beginning at 1 p.m.
