GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Wake Forest men's tennis trio of Petros Chrysochos, Ian Dempster and Skander Mansouri were recognized by the ACC, as the league announced its weekly awards Tuesday (April 3). Chrysochos was tabbed as the league's Player of the Week while Dempster and Mansouri were picked as the Doubles Team of the Week.
For Chrysochos, it is his second weekly award of the season and fourth of his career. Mansouri notches his second weekly accolade this year and seventh career honor while Dempster picks up his first-ever ACC weekly award.
Chrysochos was a perfect 3-0 on the week, defeating No. 8 Alfredo Perez of Florida, No. 34 Benjamin Sigouin of North Carolina and Notre Dame's Guillermo Cabrera. The native of Larnaca, Cyprus has now won 12 consecutive matches, with all 12 victories coming in straight sets. Eight of Chrysochos' victories have come against ranked opponents, and the junior is now ranked fifth nationally in the latest ITA singles rankings. He also paired up with Bar Botzer in doubles to clinch the doubles point in Wake Forest's victories over North Carolina and Notre Dame.
Dempster and Mansouri shined in the top doubles spot, picking up a pair of ranked victories. First, the duo upset the top-ranked doubles team of Alfredo Perez and Johannes Ingildsen of Florida before topping the No. 80 duo of Brendan Kempin and Tristan McCormick of Notre Dame.
For Mansouri, the doubles victory over Notre Dame marked his 109th career doubles win, becoming the program's all-time leader in doubles victories in the process.
The Demon Deacons remain at home for a pair of ACC matches this week. Wake Forest will play host to Clemson on Friday (April 6) at 4 p.m. before closing the weekend with a 1 p.m. match on Sunday (April 8) against Georgia Tech.
