Deacs Add Three to 2018-19 Roster

Tony Bresky announced the additions of Tayte Dupree, Melios Efstathiou and Brant Fenno to the roster

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest men's tennis coach Tony Bresky announced on Monday, August 13, the signing of three players to the team for the upcoming 2018-19 season. The Demon Deacons will welcome Tayte Dupree, Melios Efstathiou and Brant Fenno beginning this fall.
Dupree, a native of Washington, D.C., joins the Deacs after a decorated high school career. A member of the high school team at The Potomac School, Dupree helped his team to a state championship in 2018 and runner-up finishes in 2015 and this past spring.
Efstathiou, a native of Limassol, Cyprus, has competed in the junior level of three grand slam events, advancing to the quarterfinals of the Australian Open Juniors, the second round of singles and the quarterfinals in doubles at the Wimbledon Juniors and the Round of 16 at the US Open Juniors, all in 2017. Efstathiou, who has been ranked as high as 14.14 in the UTR, has also excelled on the ITF circuit. He swept the Uzbekistan ITF event singles and doubles titles in 2017 and 2016 after previously sweeping both titles at the 2015 Lebanon ITF event. Efstathiou has also advanced to the finals in singles and doubles at ITF events held in Cyprus (2016) and Jordan (2015) while advancing to the singles championship in Morocco (2016).
A fellow countryman of Wake Forest senior Petros Chrysochos, the two have been teammates on Cyprus' Davis Cup team while sharing the same coach. While as a junior, Efstathiou has dominated both the Cyprus Tennis Europe and Malta Tennis Europe events. In 2015 he claimed the singles and doubles titles at both U16 events. He previously won both singles and doubles events in the U16 level in 2014 at Malta Tennis Europe. In 2013 he won the U14 singles title in Malta and claimed the doubles championship at the U14 in Cyprus.
Fenno, a native of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, joins the Deacs as a three-time winner of the South Carolina state junior singles championship as well as a winner in doubles field. Fenno won the Bronze Ball as the third-place finisher in doubles at USTA Nationals in 2014. Rated as has as 45th in singles and 17th in doubles in the USTA national junior rakings, Fenno has reached the Round of 16 in doubles in six different USTA Super-National events. He was crowned the Southern Closed 16s doubles champion in 2016 and advanced to the finals in 2017.
Named the South Carolina private school (SCISA) Player of the Year as a junior, Fenno has been starter on the Porter-Gaud School varsity team since seventh grade. He is a four-time state champion, a four-time All-State selection, a four-time team MVP and a five-time First Team All-Lowcountry selection as well. As an eighth grader, Fenno won the South Carolina private high school individual singles championship. Successful off the court, Fenno earned Summa Cum Laude honors as a freshman and Magna Cum Laude honors as a sophomore and junior.
The trio join a Wake Forest team that captured the program's first-ever NCAA Championship this past season. Additionally, Chrysochos claimed the program's first-ever NCAA individual title when he defeated teammate Borna Gojo to claim the singles championship.
