THE MATCHUP
• Wake Forest continues tournament play as it travels to Lincoln, Neb. to face Santa Clara, No. 5 Nebraska and Ohio in the Ameritas Players Challenge Aug. 31-Sept. 1.
• The match against No. 5 Nebraska will be broadcast on BTN Plus.
LAST TIME OUT
• The Demon Deacons opened the season hosting the Spartan-Demon Deacons Challenge at Reynolds Gymnasium.
• Wake Forest dropped its matches against Maryland, Air Force and UNCG.
QUICK HITS
• Head Coach Bill Ferguson returns for his third season at the helm of the program.
• The Demon Deacons return 14 players from last year's squad, led by seniors Hailey Brooke McFadden and Katie Moore, and welcome five freshmen to the club.
• Junior Caroline Rassenfoss is the team's returning kill leader as she tallied 271 kills last season.
• 2018 will mark the first season for Wake Forest Volleyball in the newly renovated Reynolds Gymnasium. Reynolds has been home for the Deacons since 1971. The team spent the previous two seasons in the LJVM Coliseum while th renovations were underway.
SCOUTING THE BRONCOS
•Santa Clara is coming off a midweek sweep of Sacramento State on Tuesday.
• Michelle Shaffer leads the charge for the Broncos with 41 kills (2.93 k/s). She has also posted 37 digs, behind team leader Chloe Loreen who has tallied 62 digs.
• At the net Taylor Odom and Ngozi Nwabuzoh have recorded 24 and 16 blocks, respectively.
• Both of the Bronco's wins have come in three-set matches (New Mexico and Sacramento State)
• This will be the first meeting between Santa Clara and Wake Forest
SCOUTING THE HUSKERS
• The Huskers have started the season 1-1 after claiming the 2017 National Championship. They fell to No. 7 Florida, but defeated No. 18 Oregon in the VERT Challenge
• Nebraska enters the weekend ranked No. 5
• This will be the first meeting between Nebraska and Wake Forest.
•Mikaela Foecke paves the way for Nebraska with 26 kills in 87 attempts (3.71 k/s). Nicklin Hames has tallied 70 assists, while Kenzie Maloney added 30 digs.
SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
• Ohio enters the weekend 1-3, falling to Pitt, Texas A&M and Ohio State and defeating Albany.
• Tia Jimerson has recorded 36 kills in 76 attempts (3.27 k/s) and has added none total blocks. Vera Giacomazzi looks to break the 100 assists-mark this weekend, currently sitting at 96.
LOOKING AHEAD
•The Demon Deacons will return to Reynolds Sept. 7-8 to host the Wake Forest Invitational, as Elon, Georgia Southern and Akron come to town.
