Deacs Fall to No. 6 Virginia

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Wake Forest fell to No. 6 Virginia, 5-1, at Klockner Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Demon Deacons (6-4-1, 2-2-0 ACC) and Cavaliers (9-2-0, 2-2-0 ACC) were even with 11 shots apiece, but five of UVA's six shots on goal found the back of the net compared to just one of Wake Forest's four.
Meghan McCool scored twice, while Alexa Spaanstra, Betsy Brandon and Rebecca Jarrett also found the back of the net as the Cavaliers took a 3-0 lead into the break and 5-0 advantage into the final 15 minutes.
Hulda Arnarsdottir scored her second goal of the season for the Deacs in the 82nd minute. Oliwia Wos sent a corner into the box and it deflected to Arnarsdottir, who put away a header.
The Deacs had a 9-6 advantage in corner kicks.
Wake Forest continues its three-game road swing on Thursday, traveling to in-state foe Duke at 7 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.
