The Deacs found a sweet spot, emphasizing on their post-play (28 pts in paint). Ona Udoh opened with four straight points, but it did not go without response from the Blue Devils. Freshman Christina Morra chipped in with a jumper to make it three straight scoring possessions for Wake Forest. Gorecki earned the three-point play for Duke off the fast break and it quickly became a back-and-forth affair at Cameron Indoor. Raca responded with back-to-back buckets for the Deacs, but Odom (10 first-half points) and the Blue Devils held on to a 28-24 lead at the break.

Both teams came out firing in the second half. Raegyn Branch and Raca combined for five points, but Duke was able to match on the other end.
