Deacs Land Six on All-ACC Academic Team

Wake Forest matched its program record with six honorees.
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Wake Forest matched its program record with six selections to the All-ACC Women's Soccer Academic Team, the league announced on Thursday morning.
Demon Deacons honored include seniors Bayley Feist, Nonie Frishette and Peyton Perea, junior Madison Hammond, sophomore Vicky Krug, and freshman Giovanna DeMarco.
Feist and Krug both earned the honor for the second-straight season.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
Feist, drafted by the Washington Spirit in the second round of the NWSL Draft, started all 20 games in the midfield and led the team with seven goals and 18 points, also tallying four assists. She majored in communication.
Frishette played every minute between the posts and recorded six shutouts to go along with a 1.25 goals-against average and .750 save percentage while majoring in Spanish.
Perea, a team captain and communication major, also started every game in the midfield. She finished the season with eight points on three goals and two assists.
Hammond, another team captain, started every game on the back line. She notched an assist, while helping the Deacon defense post six shutouts. She is studying English.
Krug, a defender, earned the honor for the second-consecutive year by starting every game on the back line and anchoring a defense which recorded six shutouts.
DeMarco, a member of the ACC All-Freshman Team, was tied for second on the team with four goals scored and third with 11 points in her rookie season.
NCAA runner-up North Carolina led all schools with seven selections. The Deacs were tied for second among ACC schools with six honorees.
