Deacs in Second at Tar Heel Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The top-ranked Wake Forest women's golf team continued play Saturday at the Tar Heel Invitational with the tournament's second round. The Demon Deacons shot 8-under during the second round at Finley Golf Course and are in second place at 14-under through 36 holes.

Kentucky is the second-round leader at 15-under, one shot ahead of the Demon Deacons. Michigan State and Alabama are tied for third at 13-under, while Duke is fifth at 11-under.

"We have played well over the first two rounds and put ourselves in a good position," said head coach Kim Lewellen. "We will need another good round tomorrow because we know that scores will be low again in the final round."

Emilia Migliaccio shot the low round of the day for the Deacs, posting a 4-under 68. She ended the day T-8th on the individual leaderboard at 5-under. Siyun Liu is 12th at 4-under for the tournament after posting a second-round 71.

Letizia Bagnoli shot a 2-under 70 on Saturday, while Lauren Walsh shot 1-under to complete the scoring four. Rachel Kuehn shot 1-over to round out the lineup and Vanessa Knecht shot even par 72 while playing as an individual.

The Tar Heel Invitational concludes Sunday at UNC's Finley Golf Course.
