The Deacs conceded just four shots en route to their eighth shutout, while Bruno Lapa scored the game-winner in the 79th minute.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- No. 4 Wake Forest earned its eighth shutout of the season, stifling the offense of No. 19 North Carolina in a 1-0 victory at Spry Stadium on Friday night.
Bruno Lapa scored the game-winning goal in the 79th minute with a far-post finish off assists from Machop Chol and Alistair Johnston.
The Demon Deacons (12-2-0, 5-1-0 ACC) also raised $5,670 to fight breast cancer as part of the program's annual Genna Wiley Memorial Match.
Wake Forest limited the Tar Heels (7-4-2, 3-3-0 ACC) to just four shots, none in the first half. Andrew Pannenberg earned the shutout without facing a shot on goal.
"We call that Wake Forest football to its finest," head coach Bobby Muuss said. "What a great win. We gave up some chances in the second half, but I'm proud of the way the guys played. We're starting to understand each other a bit more and the relationships in the final third are getting better and better."
Lapa has now scored in four straight games, tallying five goals plus two assists over that span.
The Deacs are back in action on Tuesday, playing host to Loyola Maryland at 7 p.m. on ACCNX.
