WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest wide receiver Sage Surratt has been named as a semifinalist for the prestigious Biletnikoff Award. Surratt is one of just 12 receivers nationally to be named as a semifinalist.
The Biletnikoff Award, given by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, Inc., is awarded each year to the most outstanding receiver in the Football Bowl Subdivision. The award recipient is selected by the Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee, a group of prominent college football journalists, commentators, announcers and Biletnikoff Award winners.
Surratt, a 6-3, 215-pound redshirt sophomore from Lincolnton, N.C., is Wake Forest's team leader with 66 receptions for 1,001 and 11 touchdowns. He is just the sixth receiver in school history to surpass 1,000 receiving yards in a season.
Surratt suffered a season-ending injury against Virginia Tech on Nov. 9. At the time of his injury, Surratt was the only Power 5 receiver to have eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark in receiving yards. He was fifth in the nation in touchdown receptions, fifth in receiving yards and seventh in receiving yards per game. In the ACC, Surratt ranked first in the league in receiving yards, receiving yards per game and touchdown catches. He was the only player in the ACC with multiple games of 150 or more yards receiving.
The 2019 Biletnikoff Award winner will be presented live on December 12, 2019, at the College Football Hall of Fame on The Home Depot College Football Awards presented by Gildan to be broadcast 7:00 - 9:00pm (EST) on ESPN.
The 2019 Biletnikoff Award winner will be presented the Biletnikoff Award trophy by TQC Foundation Chairman Steve Dobson, III, college and pro football hall of famer Fred Biletnikoff, and the dynamic and inspiring keynoter and college football hall of famer Lou Holtz at the Biletnikoff Award Banquet at the University Center Club at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee on Saturday, February 15, 2020.
