The Matchup
• The top-ranked Demon Deacons look to defend their title at the ITA National Team Indoor Championship, held Feb. 15-18 at the Midtown Athletic Club in Chicago, Illinois.
• Wake Forest enters the tournament as the No. 3 seed in the field and will begin tournament play on Friday at 12 p.m. (CT) against 14th-seeded Columbia.
• The Deacs are looking to win the tournament in back-to-back seasons after capturing the title a year ago in Seattle. It was Wake Forest's first-ever ITA National Team Indoor Championship.
• Fifteen of the 16 teams appear in the ITA rankings, including the top-eight teams in the latest team rankings.
Chrysochos' Career
• Entering the spring season, senior Petros Chrysochos needed seven singles victories to become the program's all-time leader in career singles wins. Chrysochos is now at 118 career wins, one shy of tying former teammate Skander Mansouri who holds the record with 119.
• In the fall, Chrysochos won the program's first-ever singles title at the ITA Fall Championships, topping USC's Daniel Cukierman in the finals. Chrysochos is believed to be the first men's player since Arizona State's Sargis Sargsian (1994-95) to win all three major DI titles (NCAA, ITA All-American, ITA Fall Championships) in a career.
• Chrysochos has been ranked the No. 1 singles player all season in the ITA singles rankings.
Rookies Shine
• A pair of freshmen took to the courts in the openeing weekend for the Demon Deacons and shined in their first-career dual matches.
• Siddhant Banthia, a mid-year enrollee from India, went a perfect 3-0 in both singles and doubles. In his three singles matches, Banthia did not drop a set and never lost more than three games in a set.
• Melios Efstathiou, who excelled in fall competition, posted a 2-1 singles record and a 3-0 doubles record. Efstathiou showed off his versatility, playing singles matches at the No. 1, 2 and 3 positions.
• The duo have combined for a 9-3 record this spring after Efstathiou posted a 11-4 record during the fall campaign.
Next Time Out
• The Demon Deacons return home and begin ACC play on Thursday, February 28, as Virginia Tech comes to town. First serve is set for 3:30 p.m.
• It will be Wake Forest's last home match until March 15, as the Deacs will hit the road for three consecutive contests away from Winston-Salem.
