GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Wake Forest had five honorees selected to the 2019 All-ACC Baseball Academic Team, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon.
The selections include William Fleming, Bobby Hearn, Antonio Menendez, Brendan Tinsman and Tyler Witt.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career for undergraduate students. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
The last time Wake Forest had five selections was in 2016. Wake Forest was one of five schools to have at least five honorees selected.
"I'm proud of our five student-athletes for earning this significant honor from the league," head coach Tom Walter said. "At Wake Forest, we pride ourselves on a commitment to success in the classroom in addition to the field, and this achievement reflects that hard work."
Fleming, a sophomore communication major, ranks in the top 10 in program history after tallying nine saves this season. He finished 1-4 with a 4.26 ERA and struck out 31 batters in 44.1 innings.
Hearn, a redshirt-junior finance major, wrapped up the year with a perfect 2-0 record and 3.31 ERA in 32.2 innings out of the bullpen. He struck out 27 batters while allowing opponents to hit just .233 against him.
Menendez, a sophomore finance major, led the team with a 3.09 ERA and finished second in wins with a 6-1 record. He struck out 73 batters in 55.1 innings and foes hit .221 against him.
Tinsman, a freshman catcher, batted .265 with nine doubles, 10 homers and 41 RBIs. His 10 homers rank in the top 10 for Deacon freshmen all-time.
Witt, a senior health & exercise science major, concluded the year with a 4-1 record and 5.37 ERA. He fanned 52 batters over 53.2 frames on the mound.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released later this month.
