The Demon Deacons scored twice in the final seven minutes to erase a 2-1 deficit.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- No. 23 Wake Forest stormed from behind with two goals in the final seven minutes to defeat Florida, 3-2, at Spry Stadium on Saturday night to close out preseason action.
Trailing 2-1 with seven minutes to play, Ryanne Brown tapped in a loose ball at the goal line to even the score at 2-2.
Hulda Arnarsdottir netted the game-winner with less than two minutes remaining, heading in a corner kick from Estelle Laurier to put the Demon Deacons ahead for good.
"Florida's a really good team," head coach Tony da Luz said. "For long stretches in the first half we had to chase the ball around, so we learned a lot defensively from this game. I thought we did a much better job of staying compact in the second half and they didn't get the same openings. Collectively, we've improved a lot and we've been tested by two really good teams."
Abby McNamara put the Deacs ahead early, taking advantage of a Florida turnover and beating the keeper to make the score 1-0.
Florida tallied the equalizer in the 29th minute and pulled in front in the 83rd minute before Wake Forest rallied in the closing minutes.
Wake Forest opens the regular season on Thursday, playing host to Temple at 7 p.m. on ACCNX.
