LIMA, Peru – Wake Forest rising junior Emilia Migliaccio will represent the United States this week in the golf competition at the 2019 Pan American Games. Migliaccio is one of four American golfers competing August 8-11 at Country Club Villa in Lima, Peru.
A field of 64 golfers, 32 men and 32 women, will compete in the games to crown three champions: a men's individual, women's individual and a mixed team. This year marks just the second time golf has been featured at the Pan American Games, making its debut in 2015.
"It is an incredible opportunity for Emilia to compete in the Pan Am Games," said Wake Forest head coach Kim Lewellen. "Any time you are invited to represent the United States in an international competition, it is a tremendous honor. With golf now a part of the Pan Am Games, she has the chance to not only compete for her country on the course, but the chance to do so alongside so many other great athletes in other sports."
Joining Migliaccio on the United States Pan Am golf team are Rose Zhang, Stewart Hagestad and Brandon Wu.
Migliaccio earned first-team All-America honors in 2019 as a sophomore, winning the ACC individual title. She helped the Demon Deacons win the ACC team title and reach the final of the 2019 NCAA Championships.
