GREENSBORO, N.C. – Following a sweep of the George Mason Invitational, freshman outside hitter Peyton Suess was named ACC Co-Freshman of the Week.
"This is a well-deserved honor for Peyton," interim head coach Randi Smart said. "She has been a solid addition to our team this season and has provided a strong offensive presence. Her volleyball IQ, work ethic and drive will help her continue to contribute at a high level as we begin conference play."
Suess tallied 51 kills in the three-match span, including two double-doubles with 15 kills and 12 digs against William and Mary and a career-best 19 kills and 14 digs in Saturday's finale against Seton Hall. The Kasson, Minn., native also added seven blocks over the weekend and earned All-Tournament Team honors.
Suess has nine double-digit kill performances this season and leads the Deacs with 143 kills and is second on the squad with 101 digs through 11 matches.
Wake Forest volleyball opens ACC play at home as the Deacs host Miami and Florida State on Friday and Sunday, Sept. 27 and 29, respectively. Friday's match is slated for 6 p.m. and first serve on Sunday will be at 1 p.m. Admission is free to all Wake Forest home volleyball matches.
