WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Atlantic Coast Conference on Tuesday announced the women's basketball schedules for the 2019-20 season. Wake Forest will open the season on Tuesday, Nov. 5 against UNC Wilmington. The Demon Deacons will play their first ACC game at Miami on Sunday, Dec. 29.
Wake Forest will play 15 home games this season at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum including nine ACC contests.
"This year's schedule presents our team with many challenges and opportunities," said head coach Jen Hoover. "With the ACC adding two conference games to the schedule, we will be playing 18 total games in the most competitive conference in the country."
The Demon Deacons open the season with four straight home non-conference games. After the opener with UNC Wilmington, Wake Forest will host the College of Charleston on Nov. 8, UNC Greensboro on Nov. 10 and UNC Charlotte on Nov. 15.
After opening league play at Miami on Dec. 29, Wake Forest will visit Duke on Jan. 2 and then host Georgia Tech on Jan. 5 in the first home ACC game of the season.
"Preparation for the rigors of January and February are a very important piece in our development and I believe playing over half of our games against post season participants is a reminder of where we want to be in March," said Hoover.
"We have grown as a team during the pre-season and I am extremely excited about what's in store for this season. We believe our non-conference slate will prepare our team for an intense journey through the ACC."
The regular season concludes on Feb. 27 with Miami visiting the LJVM. The ACC Tournament will be held March 4-8 at the Greensboro Coliseum.
