WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest men's golf team concluded play Tuesday at the second annual Old Town Club Collegiate Invitational, held on its home course. The Demon Deacons shot 3-under during the final round to finish as the tournament's runner-up at 21-under.

No. 8 Washington won the event at 30-under, shooting the low round of the day at 8-under. Following the top-ranked Demon Deacons at 21-under was No. 7 Louisville and No. 17 West Virginia, tying for third at 12-under.

"We appreciate everyone who has helped make this such a great event," said head coach Jerry Haas. "Give Washington a lot of credit for how they played this week. When the team leading after two rounds shoots the low round of the day, it is tough to catch them. The course won out today as the scores were a little higher and the winds and greens made conditions tougher. We need to learn how to play with some adrenaline. A lot of the guys were hitting over greens just because they were hitting it farther than they normally do. You can never replicate tournament golf and this was great for our team to learn from this tournament."

Marco Steyn finished as the tournament's individual runner-up, shooting a final-round 67 to finish at 14-under, one shot behind Washington's Noah Woolsey, the medalist at 15-under. Eugenio Chacarra, playing as an individual, finished fourth at 10-under after a final round 69. Eric Bae also had a top-10, shooting even par 70 on Tuesday to finish T-9th at 5-under.

Alex Fitzpatrick shot 69 on Tuesday, while Mark Power shot 71 and Parker Gillam shot 75 to round out the Demon Deacons' lineup.

Fulton Smith, playing as an individual, was T-20th in his collegiate debut, finishing at 1-under for the tournament. Kyle Sterbinsky and Charlie Kennerly both finished at even par for the event, while Daniel Sheedy was 12-over.

The Demon Deacons return to action Sept. 29-Oct. 1 with the Nike Golf Collegiate Invitational, held at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in North Plains, Ore.
