Justin McMaster scored a pair of goals and head coach Bobby Muuss recorded the 150th win of his career.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Justin McMaster scored a pair of goals to lead No. 1 Wake Forest to a 3-1 win over Dartmouth at Spry Stadium on Friday night for the 150th win of head coach Bobby Muuss' career.
The Demon Deacons (3-0-0) scored twice in the second half to break a 1-1 stalemate and pull away from the Big Green (0-1-0).
"We were a little more persistent and we moved the ball much faster to start the second half," head coach Bobby Muuss said. "Their keeper played lights out and made big-time saves, but I like the way our guys kept playing. They were frustrated [by the saves], but I don't think they showed it in their game."
McMaster first found the back of the net in the fifth minute. Isaiah Parente sent Eddie Folds down the left sideline, and Folds sent in a cross for a header by McMaster past the keeper to make the score 1-0.
Dartmouth tied the game at 1-1 off a throw-in in the 29th minute, as David Alino hit a strike off the bottom of the crossbar and into the net.
McMaster netted the game-winner in the 62nd minute. He took a pass from Bruno Lapa on the right side of the box and deflected a shot off a defender and into the net to put the Deacs ahead for good.
Alistair Johnston added an insurance goal in the 83rd minute, heading in a corner kick from Omar Fernandez to cap off the scoring.
Wake Forest is back in action on Monday, playing host to Houston Baptist at 7 p.m.
