Wake Forest Loses Match to No. 9 Georgia Tech

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest volleyball team dropped it's third match of the season to No. 9 Georgia Tech.
The Deacs started off the first set with an early lead but then later dropped the first set 25-14. In the third set, Wake went on a three-point streak to try to close the gap but ended up dropping the set 25-13. Overall, the Deacs fell 3-0 to lose the match to the nationally ranked Yellow Jackets.
How It Happened
The Deacs caught an early lead in the first set to go up 3-1 but the Yellow Jackets went on a ten-point streak and ran with it throughout the first set.
The Yellow Jackets carried the momentum from the first set and went on a five-point run, making the score 8-2 early in the second set. A kill from redshirt sophomore Abby Krueger stalled the Yellow Jackets hot streak. Georgia Tech bounced back and finished the set 25-10.
Wake tried to battle back at the end of the third set with a three-point streak ultimately fell 25-13. Despite the team's defensive effort, led by senior Paige Sebesta with a .917 reception percentage, Georgia Tech took the match 3-0.

"We have a lot of room for growth, but luckily for us we have another opportunity to come out and get better tomorrow."
Notes for tomorrow…
"Volleyball is a game of serving and passing, if we can lock down those two things, we'll be in much better shape tomorrow."

The Deacs and Yellow Jackets will face off tomorrow at 4 p.m. in the second and final match of the series at LJVM Coliseum. The match will be broadcast on ACC Network.
