WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's basketball team opens the 2020-21 season with the Mako Medical Wake Forest Classic on Wednesday, Nov. 25. The Deacs will play Delaware State at 4 p.m. and it will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.

The Classic will continue Thursday with a noon game between the Hornets and the Longwood Lancers, and will conclude on Friday with a 7 p.m. matchup between Wake Forest and Longwood, which will air live on the ACC Network.

All games will take place at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum, where the Deacs are on a five-game non-conference win streak.

In addition to watching on television, Deacon Nation can follow along via the Wake Forest men's basketball Twitter, Instagram and Facebook accounts (@WakeMBB).

A New Era for Demon Deacon Basketball
Wednesday's game against Delaware State will mark the beginning of the Steve Forbes's era at Wake Forest.

Forbes was named the 23rd head coach of the Deacs in April after leading East Tennessee State to a 130-43 record and two Southern Conference Tournament Championships during his five-year tenure in Johnson City.

His first roster consists of many new faces with five student-athletes returning from last year's team, including Tariq Ingraham, Jahcobi Neath, Ismael Massoud, Isaiah Mucius and Ody Oguama.

Five players have transferred into the program over the offseason, including three grad transfer guards, Ian Dubose (Houston-Baptist), Jalen Johnson (Tennessee) and Jonah Antonio (UNLV).

Two Winston-Salem natives in Daivien Williamson (ETSU), and Isaiah Wilkins (Virginia Tech) have also transferred in. Both are junior guards.

Lastly, two freshmen round out the 17-man roster: Guards Quadry Adams (Piscataway, NJ) and center Emmanuel Okpomo (Jackson, MS).

Key Notes
Mucius appeared in 30 games for the Demon Deacons last season, making 22 starts. He is the leading returning scorer, after averaging 7.3 ppg last season. He also averaged 4.7 rbg in 2019-20. He finished his sophomore season with a career-best 19 points (7-9 FG) against Pitt in the ACC Tournament, his ninth double-figure scoring game of the year. He also had three double-doubles as a sophomore.

Ismael Massoud and Ody Oguama are two of just three players to play in all 31 games for the Demon Deacons, both doing so as true freshmen. Both players have spent the offseason in the weight room putting on 20 pounds each.

The Opponents
Delaware State is a member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and is led by third-year head coach Eric Skeeters. The Hornets are coming off a ninth-place finish in the MEAC.

Longwood is a member of the Big South and is led by third-year head coach Griff Aldrich. The Lancers are coming off their best season since joining the Big South in 2012, finishing fourth with a 9-9 record in conference play during the 2019-20 season.
