THE MATCHUP
• Wake Forest men's tennis makes its fifth consecutive appearance at the ITA National Indoor Championships when it travels to Madison, Wis., Feb. 14-17.
• The ninth-seeded Deacons are set for an opening round rematch with the 12th-ranked and eighth-seeded Baylor Bears.
• The winner of Wake/Baylor will advance to face the winner of top-seed Ohio State and host Wisconsin on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
• Wake Forest remains undefeated at home after downing Virginia and Davidson in a doubleheader on Sunday.
• The Deacons topped the Cavaliers 5-2 in a non-conference meeting behind singles wins from Taha Baadi,
Henri Squire, Melios Efstathiou and Eduardo Nava. Wake secured the doubles point to open the match.
• Freshman Matt Thomson made his Demon Deacon debut against Davidson, picking up a 6-3, 6-2 win on court
six. Squire moved into the top position and collected the 6-4, 6-3 victory while Baadi played the two spot and
won 6-1, 6-2.
ROOKIES RISING
• Wake featured a trio of freshmen in its win over Davidson.
• Henri Squire made his first appearance on the top court picking up the win and improving to 7-1 on the year. He has partnered with Eduardo Nava in doubles with a 4-2 mark in the top spot.
• Taha Baadi has been consistent in the second spot for the Deacs, winning three of his four contests in that position.
• Matt Thomson worked his way into the lineup for Wake for the first time against Davidson, notching the 6-3, 6-2 victory.
MEET THE DEACS
• The Deacs return 11 players from last year's NCAA finals team and welcome seven newcomers to the squad.
• Freshmen Brant Fenno, Juan Lopez de Azcona, Jack Parry, Matt Thomson and transfer Robert Maciag joined the Deacs in the fall, while Taha Baadi and Henri Squire enrolled in January.
NEXT UP
• The Deacons will get an extended break from dual match play before getting back in action on the road at Oklahoma State on March 1.
• Wake will return to the Wake Forest Tennis Center to open conference play against Duke on March 4.
