No. 25 Demon Deacons Set to Start ACC Play

Wake Forest travels to Clemson in search of first road win in the series since 2002 when Deacs advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals.

THE MATCHUPS
• The Demon Deacons begin ACC action this weekend when they travel to Clemson, S.C. for a matchup with the Tigers. The first serve of the match is scheduled for noon at Hoke Sloan Tennis Center.
• Wake Forest will be in search of its first victory in Clemson since 2002 when the Deacs advanced the the NCAA Quarterfinals.
LAST TIME OUT
• The Demon Deacons captured their third consecutive victory, winning 6-1 on the road at William & Mary. It was the second consecutive season Wake Forest defeated the Tribe, 6-1.
• Then No. 44 ranked Carolyn Campana clinched her second match of the weekend for the Demon Deacons, winning 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 1 singles match. Her and Chandler Carter also won the No. 1 doubles match, 6-2.
QUICK HITS
• After winning her last two singles matches, Carolyn Campana jumped up 27 spots in the ITA singles rankings to No. 27. She has clinched the last two victories for the Demon Deacons. Eliza Omirou also reentered the singles rankings, moving to No. 117 after spending much of fall ranked No. 101. Omirou and doubles partner MC Meredith remain in the top 20 at No. 18.
• Chandler Carter and Carolyn Campana have won all four of their doubles matches this spring including a pair of 6-0 victories.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
• Clemson is coming off their first ACC match of the season, defeating Virginia Tech, 4-3, on Friday afternoon in Blacksburg, Va.
• In the latest ITA rankings, the Tigers have just one doubles team ranked and do not have a singles player ranked inside of the top 125.
• Wake Forest has won two of the last three matches in the series including a 7-0 victory last season in Winston-Salem.
UP NEXT
• Before returning to ACC action, the Demon Deacons travel to Montgomery, Ala. for the Blue Gray Classic, a two-day event featuring eight teams.
• The first and second rounds are scheduled to take place on Feb. 21 with the final round set for Feb. 22. Last season, Wake Forest defeated Yale and No. 22 Illinois to reach the final before losing to No. 13 Oklahoma State.
