2/8/2020 12:16:00 PM | Women's Golf
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest women's golf team begins their spring season this weekend in Palos Verdes, California at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge, hosted by Ohio State.
The Deacons open 2020 with arguably one of the toughest events of the year after closing out fall play with a team victory at the East Lake Cup. They also took home wins at the Furman Invitational and the ANNIKA Intercollegiate. Wake Forest finished inside the top five in their other two appearances in the fall. This weekend's event includes eight of the top 10 teams, according to the Golfstat rankings, and all the top five, Texas, Arizona State, Kent State, Wake Forest, and Southern California.
Course Information: The tournament is being played at the Par 71, 6,017-yard Palos Verdes Golf Club. The course is set in the middle of an 800-acre parkland overlooking Santa Monica Bay with ocean views visible from several holes and has long been referred to as "a hidden gem" of Southern California golf.
Format: 54-hole stroke play where teams will play three rounds over three days. Sunday and Monday will have tee times beginning at 12 p.m. ET and Tuesday will have an 11:30 a.m. ET shotgun start.
From the Coach
"We are looking forward to starting the spring season, the spring is always exciting with it being our championship season. This first event will be a good preview of who we will see at the NCAA Championship so it's helpful in evaluating where we need to be for May." – Head Coach Kim Lewellen
