Deacons Five Strokes off Lead after 36 Holes at General Hackler

MYRTLE BEACH, SC – The Wake Forest men's golf team is holding down second place, five strokes off the lead, heading into the final round of the General Hackler Championship.
Highlighted by three players in the top 26, the Demon Deacons stayed inside the top three for the entire second round of play. An eagle on the front of senior Eric Bae's second round was a momentum builder that helped propel him into the top five. Sophomore Alex Fitzpatrick also had to eagles, both in his first nine holes of the day, and finished the second round T6 after leading the field for a portion.
Sophomore Eugenio Chacarra birdied three of his last four holes in round one to push him into the top 30, sitting T26 after a solid second round. Junior Parker Gillam is just one stoke off Chacarra, sitting T33 heading into the final 18 holes tomorrow. Playing as an individual, junior Marco Steyn has found himself inside the top 20 at T15 after an eagle and three birdies in his second round helped push him up 20 spots on the board.
Final round tee times will begin at 7:40 tomorrow morning. Wake Forest will have Mark Power first off the tee at 9:20, followed by Gillam at 9:30, Chacarra at 9:40, Fitzpatrick at 9:50, and Bae at 10:00. Steyn will tee off hole 10 at 9:40.
